FINALLY

I SEA

1 in 5 children in the UK have never seen the sea.

Project Description

Finally I Sea is our award-winning short documentary exposing the startling reality that 1 in 5 children in the UK have never seen the sea. Following 9-year-old Fajita on her first coastal trip, the film shows how time by the ocean can spark curiosity, connection, and care for the natural world, aiming to create more opportunities for children to experience the seaside.

Produced in partnership with Dryrobe, Ocean Culture Life, Keep Britain Tidy, and the My World Film Grant, the film has screened at festivals, featured in ocean-focused talks, and toured schools across the US with an educational lesson plan designed to inspire discussions about access to nature and ocean literacy. Notably, it was also screened at the UN Ocean Conference, helping to highlight the importance of ocean conservation and access to nature for children. Since its release, we're proud to say that more children have had the chance to see the sea, including the school featured, which now organises regular coastal trips for its pupils.
